Cicero once wrote, “Memory is the treasury and guardian of all things.” What memories does Christmas bring to mind for you? I recall my brothers and I having to be dragged all over town by our parents on Christmas Eve to visit both grandparents’ homes. The family get-togethers we took for granted back then, the telling of stories we had all heard before, and the family members we always thought would be here forever are missed now. Thinking back, I often wish I could have one more day with both my maw maws’ and my paw paw because those times were special and I sure do miss them.
This morning, I was blessed to spend the morning with hundreds of students, parents and volunteers for the Creating Christmas Memories celebration at K-Mart. This annual event, sponsored by Brenda Lawson, has become a tradition that helps support the children of Cleveland City and Bradley County. It was a pleasure to get to witness this event first-hand. Christmas Break is around the corner! Here are a few things to remember about ASU’s Christmas Break hours:
- Dec 19th – Half day, please send $3 for a pizza party lunch!
- Dec 20th & 21st – ASU will be open from 7 am – 6 pm at Stuart
- Dec 24 – Jan 1 – CLOSED
- Jan 2 – 4, Jan 7 – ASU will be open from 7 am – 6 pm at Stuart
- Jan 8 – School starts back
Remember that ASU provides breakfast and an afternoon snack. Parents should pack a lunch for your child.
