What is C.L.C.? The Blythe-Bower Community Learning Center (C.L.C) is an after school program that is focused on the total development of the child. C.L.C. offers homework (a minimum of 45 minutes), a recreational activity, cultural diversity projects, arts and craft activities, musical enrichments, and other great things for kids in a safe setting. We are open Monday-Friday from right after school until 6:00 PM. You can contact us at C.L.C. from 2:30 p.m. until we close at 504-6329. What does it cost? Because of a Federal Grant, students whose families qualify for free or reduced lunch are able to attend C.L.C. for $2.00/day plus a $25.00 registration fee. If your child attends C.L.C., parents/guardians are required to be involved in a parent involvement program. The requirement is one hour per week. For example, if the month is four weeks long, four hours of parent involvement for the month is required. If the month is five weeks long, five hours of parent involvement will be required. During this time, parent will be involved in things that will better them and their family. Activities may include helping your child with his or her work, taking your child to Family Reading Night, coming to see a C.L.C. performance, taking a GED class or participating in workshops offered to help you. If you do not qualify for free or reduced lunch, the normal charge for C.L.C. is $9.00 a day, plus a one-time registration fee of $25.00. C.L.C. is open during a great majority of breaks and holidays. If you are a paying parent, then the fee is $17.00 per day during the breaks and holidays. C.L.C. will be $5.00 a day for free and reduced lunch students during the breaks and holidays. How does a student get into C.L.C.? Parents or guardians will need to see Mr. James Smith for registration. Once the paperwork is complete, the parents need to meet with Mr. Smith so that he can better explain the program and procedures. The parent/guardian then needs to notify the child's teacher of when the child will be attending C.L.C. A waiting list will be formed if the student/staff ratio becomes greater than 12:1.
