MISSION STATEMENTS Cleveland City Schools: To develop responsible citizens who will set the standards for excellence in a global society. Blythe-Bower Elementary School is committed to providing a safe environment in which all students are educated and develop skills to become caring, respectful, and productive citizens. STATEMENT OF BELIEFS Learning: All children can learn. Character education is an essential part of becoming a caring, respectful, and productive citizen. A climate of high expectations encourages communication, critical thinking, and cooperative work effort for all students. A safe, secure, and caring environment that promotes positive self esteem and respect for others is essential to learning. Instruction: Early identification of at risk students and focused instruction empowers them to reach their educational goals. Differentiated instruction is provided for the individual needs of our students. Instructional practices and materials are driven by scientifically based research. Instruction focuses on the learning abilities and learning styles of individual students. Instruction is given to encourage students to reach their maximum potential. Communication: Communication concerning student achievement is shared: Internally among the staff and students, Externally to parents on a consistent schedule, Externally to interested stakeholders, as needed. Assessment: Assessments are given at grade levels to monitor gains and guide instruction. Data results are analyzed and used to guide instruction for student success. Decision Making: Decisions are made as a collaborative team to ensure optimal learning. Policy: Equal access to appropriate educational opportunities is provided for all students regardless of race or ethnic background. Daily school attendance is necessary for learning and academic gains. The responsibility for learning, behavior, and the educational process is shared by the student, the school, the home, and the community. SHARED VISION The vision of Blythe-Bower Elementary School faculty, staff, and parents is that all students will be loved and taught on their own level, promoting success for each individual.
