Student Council
The CMS Student Council consists of one representative from each homeroom, plus the executive committee. Elections are held in the Fall after the first progress report. An announcement will be made for interested students to attend a meeting with the sponsors. At this informational meeting, the students will be given an application and the campaign specifics will be discussed. Team teacher recommendations are required in order to qualify as a candidate. The actual campaign runs 2-3 days prior to the election. During this time, students are allowed to hang posters and distribute flyers around their home- room area.
Student Council meetings are held during school on an assigned activity period. Numerous meetings are also held at 7:00 a.m. or after school as needed throughout the school year. Activities include an annual Thanksgiving food drive, appreciation gifts for teachers, Habitat for Humanity, dances, and other fundraisers. Student Council representatives work closely with the sponsors to serve as a link between the students and the faculty and as leaders and voices for the CMS student body.
