YMCA Earth Service Corps
The YMCA Earth Service Corps (YESC) is an innovative youth-led program that
gives students an opportunity to help keep our earth fit for life through service
learning projects that promote positive environmental and social change. The
YESC empowers young people to be effective, responsible, global citizens by
providing opportunities for environmental education and action, leadership development
and cross-cultural awareness. Students learn firsthand what "think globally,
act locally" means. It's about teens taking action, creating change, and making
a difference in our city, neighborhoods, air, water, and earth. YESC meetings
are held during school on an assigned activity period and sometimes after school.
Weekly meetings at the YMCA are held for special projects and activities. There
is a $25.00 fee for non-Y members, less for Y members.
