Communications Technology is a course designed for middle school students to explore twenty-first century communication through the use of current technology. Students learn to prepare PowerPoint and HyperStudio presentations, perform various desktop publishing activities, refine their word processing skills, design web pages, make and edit videos, and learn to use the Internet for finding information. A variety of multimedia tools is used including digital cameras, camcorders, scanners, CD and DVD burners, and various computer programs. The class is taught using direct instruction as well as student projects. Research skills are introduced as students prepare their projects.

It is our goal to make the technological experiences of our students both interesting and educational, creating in them a desire to further develop their skills at the high school level to equip them for a future where having strong technology skills will be essential.
