Robotics

Cleveland Middle School participates in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition. Our team, the Robo Raiders, is formed each fall soon after school begins. Students have the opportunity to learn about building and programming robots using the LEGO Mindstorms and NXT robots. They will also begin researching the topic for the FLL current competition. Coaches and students will select about eight students for the competition team. After the challenge for the FLL competition is announced in early to mid September, the team works on designing and programming the robot to accomplish the assigned missions, researching the topic, and preparing a team presentation. The competition is usually held in early December.

2006 was the first year of participation in FLL for our school. Our team finished first in presentation, fifth in teamwork, eighteenth in robot performance, and second overall in the Tennessee state competition.
