George R. Stuart Elementary School
Stuart Elementary was opened in 1959. It is named for Mr. George R. Stuart, a prominent businessman in the Cleveland community, who donated the land on which the school was built. Many Cleveland-natives attended Stuart as a child and cherish their experiences in grade school.
We serve approximately 440 students, grades kindergarten through fifth grade, and house one Pre-K and three special services classrooms for the district. We have 23 classrooms and provide related arts in the areas of music, art, school counseling, computer science, library/media science and physical education. Our teachers are dedicated to providing a loving and supportive educational experience. The population of Stuart is approxiamtely 60% Caucasian, 30% Hispanic, 9% African American, and 2% Asian. As of May 2018, 48% of our students families are classified as economically disadvantaged, therefore we qualify as a Title 1 school.
The core values of Stuart Elementary are tradition, excellence, gratitude and service. It is our vision to see the school serve as a community hub, where families, children and educators come together to learn and grow. We welcome you in the Stuart family, and hope you find yourself better for having been here.
Mrs. Richelle Shelton, principal
