    it works and download books or just learn about the program.

    TIME:                Noon – 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

    LOCATION:        Register in your zoned school

    AGE:                  Child must be age 5 on or before August 15, 2017

     

    For Registration, parents must bring their child’s:

    1. Birth Certificate (or Record of Birth from the hospital)
    2. Child’s Social Security Card
    3. Recent Physical (since January 1, 2017)
    4. Proof of Residency (rent receipt, utility bill, etc.)

     

    Before entering school in August, every child should have:

    1. An Official Birth Certificate
    2. A recent Medical Examination
    3. All immunizations recorded on the Tennessee Permanent Immunization Record - (including 2 MMRs, 3 Hepatitis B, 5 DPT, 4 Polio, 2 Hepatitis A (effective July 2011) and         2 Chicken Pox vaccination).  If the child has had Chicken Pox, you will need a letter verified by his/her doctor along with the dates the child was infected.

    Parents, it is very important that you register your child for Kindergarten on April 6thin order for your child to have a place in your local zoned school.

    *It is NOT necessary to bring your child with you to Kindergarten Registration.  If you have any questions, call your zoned elementary school.

    LOCALIDAD:           Inscriba a su niño en la escuela de su comunidad

    EDAD:                    El niño debe cumplir 5 años en o antes del 15 de agosto del 2017.

     

    Para inscribirlos, los padres deberán traer:

    1. Acta de Nacimiento del niño (o el Record de Nacimiento del hospital)
    2. Tarjeta de Seguro Social del niño
    3. Examen Físico reciente (desde el 1 de enero de 2017)
    4. Prueba de residencia (recibo de renta o de pago de utilidades, o teléfono, etc.)

    Antes de comenzar la escuela en agosto, todo niño deberá tener:

    1. Un Acta de Nacimiento oficial

Welcome to Stuart Elementary School

  • Welcome to George R. Stuart Elementary School

    Stuart Elementary was opened in 1959. It is named for Mr. George R. Stuart, a prominent businessman in the Cleveland community, who donated the land on which the school was built. Many Cleveland-natives attended Stuart as a child and cherish their experiences in grade school.

    We serve approximately 480 students, grades kindergarten through fifth grade, and house one Pre-K and three special services classrooms for the district. We have 24 classrooms and provide related arts in the areas of music, art, guidance, computer science, library science and physical education. Our teachers are dedicated to providing a loving and supportive educational experience. The population of Stuart is approxiamtely 65% Caucasian, 25% Hispanic, 9% African American, and 1% Asian. As of March 2016, 60% of our students families are classified as economically disadvantaged, therefore we qualify as a Title 1 school.

    The core values of Stuart Elementary are tradition, excellence, gratitude and service. It is our vision to see the school serve as a community hub, where families, children and educators come together to learn and grow. We welcome you in the Stuart family, and hope you find yourself better for having been here.

    General Information: 

    Hours During the School Year are 8:15 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

    Instructional Hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  

    • The building will open at 7:40 a.m. for students.
    • All students receive breakfast and lunch free of charge.
    • Breakfast will be served from 7:40 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.  Students who are eating breakfast are to report to the cafeteria immediately upon arrival.
    • Students not eating breakfast at school will report to the gym upon arrival.
    • Classrooms open for students at 8:15 a.m.
    • It is important that students are in their class and ready to begin at 8:30 a.m. Students not in their room at this time are considered tardy.*
    • Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. must be signed in at the front office by an adult.

    *Students MUST be in their classrooms by 8:30 or they are counted tardy. If they leave before 3:30, they are considered to have checked out early. Once a student has 5 tardies, checkouts OR absences, they can be referred to Campus Court for truancy.

    Please refer to the Student Handbook (under the "Parents" tab) for details about attendance and excused absences or tardies/check-out.
