Mrs. Susan Hoops-Whitlock
The Teddy Bear Classroom is where Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock spends lots of her time! She has delighted in teaching for more years than she can count using both her fingers and her toes! Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock earned her undergraduate degree, with specializations in both early childhood and reading, from The University of Iowa and then earned her Master's degree in teaching and leadership from St. Xavier University in Chicago, IL. She has taken numerous courses since then and attended various conferences to enhance her teaching program even more. Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock moved to Cleveland in 2001 when she helped with the start of the Kindergarten Academy. In 2002, she became part of the Yates Primary Family.
Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock has been distinguished as Cleveland City Schools Teacher of the Year, Walmart's Teacher of the Year, and induction into Lee University's Teaching Honor Fraternity.
Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock is married to her perfect friend, Mr. Kevin Whitlock, and has two wonderful children, Jake and Kimberleigh Morris. Both of her children are collegiates. Jake is in Law school in Memphis and Kimberleigh is a Sophomore at The University of TN in Knoxville. Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock's parents and brother and his family also live in Cleveland. she loves spending Sunday dinner time with them on a weekly basis. Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock has one sister who is still shoveling snow in Illinois and wants her to move to the beautiful city of Cleveland someday soon!
Mrs. Hoops-Whitlock loves to water ski and relax by her pool during the summer time, go hiking and biking during the fall and springtime, and read and play tennis during every season. One of her greatest joys is teaching kindergarten and watching her children turn into exceptional writers and readers as they explore the new wonders in our world.
