  • Parent - Is the student laptop insured?

  • Yes. The device is covered for accidental damage, lost, stolen, fire, theft. Accidental damages insurance will cover one repair to each part of the laptop. For example, the screen will be repaired once if damaged. The second time damage occurs, the parent/guardian will be responsible for the cost of repair. The same goes for repairs to the keyboard, trackpad, bezel, hinges, etc... Cleveland City Schools will cover the cost of repair the first time to any or all of those parts. The parent or guardian will be responsible for the cost of repair the second time.

  • My student already has his/her own laptop. Do they have to get one from the school?

They do. While at school, students must use the school-issued laptop. They may not bring personal laptops to school with them.

  • Teacher - How will I connect to my ActivBoard/TV/Projector?

You will be provided a dock to connect all of your accessories to your laptop. Your TV/projector/ActivPanel will connect directly to your dock just like your desktop does currently. Document cameras will connect to the dock as well.

  • Teacher - I just got a new Windows computer. Why do I need to purchase an Apple computer?

No. You do not need to purchase a new Apple device if you recently purchased a Windows device. We ask that when the time comes to buy a new device, please contact Andrew Phillips to find out which device will best meet your needs.

  • Teacher - What will happen with my desktop?

Your desktop will eventually be replaced by your new MacBook Air. You will be given plenty of time to get all of your documents copied from your old desktop to your brand-new laptop.
