Mrs. Alicia Kahrs is the assistant principal of Arnold Memorial Elementary, and is in her 15th year of education. She taught high school science in two other states before starting her journey at Cleveland City Schools 11 years ago as a science teacher at Cleveland High School. In 2015, she was given the opportunity to come to Stuart Elementary to serve as the Instructional Facilitator where she worked with our students in the areas of reading and math intervention. After serving two years as the Instructional Facilitator, she then was given the opportunity to advance into school leadership, and became the Assistant Principal of Arnold Memorial and Stuart Elementary schools. Mrs. Kahrs loves being a school administrator, and has thoroughly enjoyed serving the students and families of both communities. Mrs. Kahrs’ background in secondary education provides her a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities of elementary students as they progress toward secondary school.

Mrs. Kahrs is married to Michael Kahrs, the Director of Student Information Systems for Cleveland City Schools. Mr. and Mrs. Kahrs live in Cleveland with their family, and she is the proud step-mom to Tony & Coby, both CHS alumni; Ethan, a Junior at CHS; and Tylie, an 8th grader at CMS. Being both an employee of CCS and a parent of children in CCS, she knows and sees the needs of students in today’s society. She is passionate about providing students, parents, and teachers with the tools and resources that they need to be successful in the educational environment. Mrs. Kahrs also knows that we live in an ever-changing world where the social and emotional needs of students are just as important as the educational ones, therefore, her educational philosophy is holistic one. Mrs. Kahrs holds the belief that, as educators, we are not just educating the minds of children, but also their hearts.
