Information from Cleveland City Board of Education Meeting - February 5

Cleveland City Board of Education members had a full agenda at their monthly board meeting last night. 

Spotlight  Last night, several students from the choir performed for the school board. In addition, Dr. Joel Barnes shared several updates from Blythe-Bower Elementary School. 

Interim Director of Schools

Last night, school board members voted to select Kelly Kiser, Director of Human Resources as Interim Director of Schools after Dr. Dyer departs in March. 

Director’s Update

  • Lisa Eason from the English as a Second Language (ESL) department was selected as the Cleveland City Schools Blue Star Award winner yesterday!

  • Cleveland City Schools and Offices will be closed for President’s Day on Monday, February 19.

  • Lifetouch Memory Mission Trip

  • Cleveland High School Boys and Girls Wrestling Teams recently won the state championship for duals

  • TSBA Legislative and Legal Conference will be held from February 12-13 

Second Reading of Policies

Last night, the Cleveland City Board of Education approved the following policies on a second (final) reading. Our website will update these policies in the next couple of days.

  • Policy 2.8051 Debit Cards, Credit Cards, & Credit Line

Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation (BCPEF)

Last night, Lynn Voelz shared a mid-year report on behalf of the BCPEF. In addition, the LEAD Fellows were in attendance.  

Strategic Plan Focus - Safety & Student Services 

Cliff Eason, Student and Facilities Support Specialist, shared an update on their Strategic Plan
