Notification of AED Response Drill

Dear Arnold Families,

The most crucial components for saving a life in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest are the presence of someone who can perform CPR, access to an automated external defibrillator (AED), and established plans for how to respond to medical emergencies in schools. Well-implemented sudden cardiac arrest preparedness programs ensure the best chance of survival. Cleveland City Schools is working with Project ADAM and Arnold Memorial Elementary has been named a Heart Safe School. We have established a cardiac emergency response program on our campus to help prevent the tragedy of sudden cardiac death.

We will be performing a practice AED response drill at our school in the upcoming days. This drill is a crucial piece of assessing our preparedness to respond to an emergency with students present.  We will be debriefing students following the drill and will review education about sudden cardiac arrests, CPR and AEDs, as well as the importance of not tampering with the AEDs on campus.

Thank you for supporting our school and the safety of our students, staff and visitors.

Sincerely,

Michael Chai , Principal
