Our 1st graders at Blythe-Bower are shining bright as young scientists in their project-based learning unit, "How Can We Use the Sun to Help Us?" 🌍✨ Through hands-on exploration, they are investigating sunlight and heat by building their own solar ovens! 🔥🍫 From designing and constructing to testing and observing, these future innovators are discovering how the sun’s energy can be harnessed in creative and sustainable ways. 🌞♻️

👑✨ Our Kindergarten students wrapped up their study on Royal Families with a magical Royal Ball! 👑✨
Throughout this unit, they explored both fiction and nonfiction read-alouds about kings, queens, and royal traditions. 📚🤴👸 These stories helped them understand the responsibilities and customs of royalty across history.

Kindergarten wrapped up their Native American unit with a visit from Five Points Museum. Students explored hands-on artifacts, observed exhibits, listened to ancient tales and traditional chants, and discovered fascinating words from Native languages that sparked curiosity.
Hour of Code
For over 20 years, Bradley Lights has created an intricate and engaging holiday lights display. Recently, they visited our school to present on the intersection of electricity, design, and technology in their work. During the presentation, they demonstrated how they program lights to synchronize with music, showcasing the software they use to design and control the display.
The session also incorporated elements of the design thinking process. The presenter guided us through the creation of a "model light display" in real time, allowing students to observe the iterative design process in action. Additionally, they discussed the use of a 3D printer to design and fabricate various display components.
The presentation included an explanation of electrical principles, such as different voltage levels, and their importance in ensuring the functionality and safety of the displays. This experience provided a hands-on and multidisciplinary perspective on the application of STEM principles in creative and real-world contexts.
We had a great time hosting iMom and All Pro Dad this week! Our Bobcats are blessed with great families and friends!
