Cleveland City Schools is excited to announce that Chris Brown has been chosen as the next leader of Cleveland High School Football. Coach Brown returns to Cleveland High, where he was known as both an outstanding English teacher and leader on the football field, after several successful coaching stops.
Most recently, Brown served as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for Baylor School. During Brown's tenure at Baylor, they achieved a record of 33-6 while securing the 2022 Tennessee Division II-AAA State Championship as well as the 2023 and 2024 Tennessee Division II-AAA State Runner-Up trophies.
Prior to Baylor, Brown served as the Head Football Coach for Red Bank High School. At Red Bank, he achieved an overall 40-8 record while being named the TSSAA Region Head Coach of the Year three times. Brown has also served as an assistant football coach in Cleveland, Ooltewah, and Unicoi County prior to his time as a head coach.
Director of Schools, Dr. Jeff Elliott, says, “We are very happy to welcome Coach Brown back to Cleveland. He brings the energy and commitment needed to move Cleveland Football into the future. His desire to build a strong football team while also building young men with strong character fits our vision for the program and will be a great complement to the success we are already seeing at Cleveland High School.”
“I am thrilled that Chris Brown is going to be leading our Blue Raider Football Program,” shared Bob Pritchard, Principal of Cleveland High School. “Coach Brown reflects the values of our school and district and will shape our students into individuals that can have success both on the field and in the classroom.”
When asked for comment, Coach Brown shared, “My family and I are humbled to have the opportunity to once again become part of the Cleveland High School family. I look forward to meeting the students, educators, and families of Cleveland High School and partnering with them to make all areas of our school successful.”
