Cleveland City Schools is proud of the education programs and opportunities offered to our students at Cleveland High School.

The Course Catalog contains general scheduling information, a general description of courses available, graduation requirements, suggestions for course selections, and course descriptions. Cleveland High School is mandated by the Tennessee Department of Education to promote and provide each student with a rigorous college and career preparatory program of study. Our general expectation is that every student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary for college and career readiness. As a part of achieving this goal, each department offers a wide variety of courses on many relevant topics.

Textbooks & Materials

English Language Arts
My Perspectives is a high school English language arts curriculum that is designed to help students develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The curriculum aligns with Tennessee state standards and covers a wide range of literature genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama, to expose students to a variety of writing styles and themes. The curriculum also includes extensive grammar and vocabulary instruction, as well as regular writing assignments and projects that challenge students to apply their skills in real-world contexts. My Perspectives encourages students to engage with diverse perspectives and cultures, promoting inclusivity and empathy in the classroom.

Math
SAVVAS AGA (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2) offers a comprehensive high school math curriculum that is designed to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and skills. The curriculum aligns with Tennessee state standards and includes a variety of resources such as textbooks, online materials, and assessments that are aligned with state and national standards. The program emphasizes problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world applications of math. It also includes opportunities for differentiation and personalized learning, allowing students to work at their own pace and level. SAVVAS AGA's high school math curriculum is a rigorous and engaging program that prepares students for success in college and beyond.

Science
Glenco high school's science curriculum is designed to provide students with a robust and engaging learning experience. The curriculum aligns with Tennessee state standards and covers a wide range of topics, including biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science. Students are taught through a combination of classroom lectures, hands-on laboratory experiments, and group discussions. The curriculum is designed to be challenging but accessible, with opportunities for students of all abilities to succeed. Cleveland High School also offers advanced placement courses in science for students who wish to pursue more rigorous coursework. 

Social Studies
McGraw Hill's high school social studies curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of history, geography, economics, and government. Through engaging and interactive materials, students will explore key themes and historical events, analyze primary sources, and develop critical thinking skills. The curriculum aligns with Tennessee state standards and also emphasizes the importance of cultural diversity and global perspectives, preparing students for success in an increasingly interconnected world. With a focus on inquiry-based learning and real-world connections, McGraw Hill's social studies curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to become informed and engaged citizens.

Assessment Blueprints for 2023-2024

Tennessee assessment blueprints are a valuable resource for educators as they prepare for the upcoming school year. These blueprints provide a summary of what will be assessed on each assessment, helping educators to plan their curriculum accordingly.
