Teacher Feature: David Williams, Blythe-Bower Elementary School

We’re excited to introduce Mr. David Williams, a 5th-grade English Language Arts teacher at Blythe-Bower Elementary School! Since joining our school in January 2022, Mr. Williams has been leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of his students!

Born in the city of Columbus, Georgia, Mr. Williams and his family relocated to Huntsville, Alabama. At the age of six, his family's bags were packed once again, and this time, they set off for Germany, all thanks to his father's service in the Army. From southern hospitality to European wonder, David's experiences shaped his perspective and passion for embracing diversity and seeking new horizons.

Fast forward to his graduation from high school in Germany, and it was time for Mr. Williams to choose his own path. He set his sights on Lee University, where he pursued a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies K-5 Elementary Education. In 2021, he proudly walked across the stage as a graduate, ready to embark on his lifelong mission to make a difference.

During his studies, he had the privilege of student-teaching at none other than Blythe-Bower Elementary, where he experienced firsthand the magic and challenges of teaching. He said, "Teaching is exciting and a lot of hard work, but it's the most rewarding journey!"

From the moment he stepped foot in Blythe-Bower Elementary, he was captivated by the sense of community and support that fills the hallways. He believes that creating a classroom where compassion reigns supreme is key to unlocking his students' full potential.

"I love to hear about my students being respectful,” he said. "I know that if I can teach them how to be respectful then they can learn anything."

If you ever step into Mr. Williams' classroom, you're in for a visual treat as he invites his students to add their own personal touch to the learning environment. The walls are adorned with vibrant posters and positive quotes, reminding everyone that they possess the power to achieve greatness.

When he's not busy molding the minds of the future, he enjoys spending quality time with his loved ones. Whether it's enjoying moments with his girlfriend, bonding with his brother who attends Lee University, or pounding the pavement with an evening run.

Thank you, Mr. Williams, for all you do for your students. We are so grateful to have educators like you!
