Cleveland High School Proudly Celebrates the Graduation of the Class of 2023

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Cleveland High School is delighted to announce the successful graduation of the Class of 2023. This event marked a significant milestone in the lives of 426 talented and accomplished students as they received their diplomas, recognizing their exceptional achievements throughout their high school journey. Nearly 60% of the graduating class achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The academic achievements of the Class of 2023 were truly remarkable. Notably, 33 seniors were honored with the distinguished title of Graduates of Distinction, representing the largest group of awardees in Cleveland High School's history. These individuals maintained a 4.0 GPA while completing twelve or more honors classes.

In addition, 71 seniors were celebrated as Raider Scholar Honor graduates. These scholars achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while successfully completing twelve or more honors classes and at least two Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

The Class of 2023 also showcased an impressive number of Advanced Placement scholars. Ten seniors earned the distinction of AP Scholars by scoring 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. Three seniors were honored as AP Scholars with Honors for receiving a score of 3.25 on all AP exams and achieving a score of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Furthermore, one senior was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction, attaining a grade of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams taken and scoring 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Notably, Bailey Johnson, a TVEC Early College graduate, added to the Class of 2023's remarkable achievements by being named a National Merit Finalist this year.

Furthermore, the Class of 2023 displayed their commitment to higher education through a notable cohort of graduates from Cleveland State Community College via the TN Valley Early College Program. Nine seniors successfully obtained their Associate Degrees before graduating high school, exemplifying their ambition and academic determination.

Ten seniors graduated with an ACT score of 31 or higher, with Belle White achieving an outstanding score of 35 out of a possible 36. Belle's remarkable achievement earned her the "State Distinction" recognition for her exceptional performance on the ACT.

Additionally, 33 students from the graduating class earned "State Distinction" for completing 12 or more semester hours of transcripted dual enrollment credit, showcasing their dedication to academic excellence beyond the traditional high school curriculum.

During the ceremony, the Cleveland High School community took a poignant moment to honor the late Grayson Michael Moser, a beloved member of the Class of 2023 who passed away during his sophomore year. Grayson's family was present to join in the celebration, and a memorial chair was placed in his graduation spot. Additionally, the Class of 2023 presented the school with a wooden bench, ensuring that Grayson's memory will forever resonate within the campus.
