CHS Freshman Cameron Garcia Chosen to Represent Special Olympics Area 4 at National Golf Tournament

Cleveland High School is thrilled to share that freshman Cameron Garcia has been selected to represent Special Olympics Area 4 at the National Golf Tournament taking place in Seaview, New Jersey, from October 3rd to 6th.

The news of Cameron's selection was met with joy and excitement at Cleveland High School. Today, during lunch, the school orchestrated a surprise announcement to share the news with Cameron, fellow students, faculty, and staff. The cafeteria erupted in applause as it was revealed Cameron's upcoming participation in the National Golf Tournament.

Cameron’s love for golf has always been evident, and his selection to represent Special Olympics Area 4 is a culmination of his hard work and commitment.

Representing Special Olympics Area 4, which encompasses ten counties, Cameron will participate in the level two category of the tournament, where he and his father, Jay Garcia, will play in an alternating shot format for 9 holes. The duo's shared passion for the game has resulted in their best-combined score of 48. This father-son team will undoubtedly bring their A-game to the tournament in October.

Cameron's father, Jay Garcia, remarked, "Cameron's journey has shown us that hard work truly pays off. This opportunity to compete at the national level is a reflection of his commitment and determination. We're excited to embrace this experience together!”

Judy Rogers, Area Director for Special Olympics, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "It's going to be the first time he's competed at a national golf tournament, so it's going to be such a great experience for them."

"It's awesome to see that he's not only excelling on our team but excelling outside of our program where he's able to compete on a national stage," commented Cleveland High School Golf Coach Lamar Mills.

Congratulations, Cameron!
