  • Cleveland Blue Star Award

    • Congratulations to Cleveland High School’s Digital Media Teacher, Del Halfacre, who has been chosen as the inaugural recipient of the Cleveland Blue Star Award! Dr. Dyer will present the Cleveland Blue Star Award to a deserving staff member each month. You can submit a nomination here

  • BCPEF Lead Retreat 

    • The Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation (BCPEF) held its Lead Retreat last week. 

  • TSBA Fall District Meeting

    • Cleveland City Schools had the opportunity to host the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Southeast Fall District Meeting at Cleveland High School last week. 

  • Update on Class Sizes 

    • This year, the enrollment at Cleveland City Schools stands at 5,675 students, representing a growth of 64 students from the previous year.

    • Current Grade Level Averages:

      • Kindergarten - 16.25

      • First - 17.05

      • Second - 17

      • Third - 18.3

      • Fourth - 19.4

      • Fifth - 21.33

      • Sixth - 18.7

      • Seventh - 24

      • Eighth - 23.4

      • 9th - 12th Core - 27.9

Second Reading of Policies

The Cleveland City Board of Education approved the following policy on a second (final) reading last night. This policy will be updated on our website in the next couple of days. 

Additional Positions

ESL Teacher

  • Due to an increase in enrollment for English as a Second Language (ESL) students, the Cleveland City Board of Education approved an additional full-time ESL Teacher position for Mayfield Elementary.

Special Education Assistant 

  • Due to specific needs determined by an Individualized Education Plan Team, the Cleveland City Board of Education approved a one-on-one Special Education Assistant position for Cleveland High School. 

These positions will be funded through the General Budget for the 2023-2024 school year. 

Strategic Plan Focus

Supervisor of Elementary and Counseling Kellye Bender shared information about elementary school highlights across the district.
