Cleveland City Schools and Stuart Elementary School Dedicate Don Goff Auditorium

On Tuesday, September 5th, Cleveland City Schools and Stuart Elementary School united in a dedication ceremony to honor the legacy of Mr. Don Goff, the esteemed former principal of Stuart Elementary School. The event marked the official naming of the school's auditorium after Mr. Goff, who served as principal for 18 years until his well-deserved retirement in 2008.

The decision to name the auditorium in honor of Mr. Goff was met with unanimous approval by the Cleveland City Board of Education in April 2023, a testament to the impact he had on the school community. The initiative was led by Board Member Peggy Pesterfield, along with a dedicated group of community members who recognized the invaluable contributions of Mr. Goff to education.

Dr. Jeff Elliott, Chief of Staff for Cleveland City Schools, shared his thoughts on this momentous occasion, stating, "The dedication of the Don Goff Auditorium represents a fitting tribute to a leader whose tireless commitment to our students and community continues to inspire us all. Mr. Goff's impact on education is immeasurable, and this auditorium will serve as a beacon of his enduring legacy.”

On September 5th, the Don Goff Auditorium was filled with former students, colleagues, and community members who gathered to pay tribute to a remarkable man. 

Throughout the event, heartfelt stories and fond memories were shared, showcasing the profound influence Mr. Goff had on the Stuart Elementary School community. Principal Kim Bradford expressed her sentiments, saying, “As you can see, from spring musicals to school concerts to school celebrations, the heart of Mr. Don Goff is still beating at Stuart Elementary and we have plans to continue his legacy.”
