Cleveland City Board of Education members had a full agenda at their monthly board meeting at Arnold Memorial Elementary on Monday, October 2nd. 

Spotlight

  • School board members had the opportunity to acknowledge Dr. Danielle Scarth, Behavior and Life Skills Specialist, for her recognition as one of the "20 under 40" people to watch in the Cleveland Daily Banner! 

CHS AP Scholars 

  • Last night, the Cleveland City School board had the privilege of acknowledging our exceptional Cleveland High School students who have earned the prestigious AP Scholar Awards. These remarkable young scholars have demonstrated college-level achievement through their exceptional performance on multiple AP Exams.

Director’s Update

  • Thank you to Cleveland State Community College, the school board, and the community for nominating Dr. Dyer for the Community First Award in Education. 

  • Individual meetings with Cleveland City Council members and the mayor are underway 

  • October is National Principals Month 

  • Congratulations to Cleveland Middle School’s volleyball team for winning the district! 

  • Cleveland Blue Star Award

    • Congratulations to Mrs. Ponzetta Williams from Arnold Memorial Elementary for being chosen as October’s Cleveland Blue Star Award! As an Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Williams goes above and beyond to make her school a better place! Congratulations, Mrs. Williams, for this well-deserved recognition! You can nominate a staff member for next month’s Blue Star Award here. 

  • SchoolCEO Conference

    • Kelly Kiser, Caroline Corrigan, and I attended the School CEO Conference to learn more about how to rethink branding and culture across Cleveland City Schools!

Strategic Plan Focus

Supervisor of Secondary Education Dr. Leneda Laing shared information about highlights from Cleveland Middle and Cleveland High School. 

We were thankful to have BCPEF Leadership Fellows attend our board meeting last night. Cleveland City Schools has five staff members included this year: Erica Rogers, Brian Beeh, Casey Hybarger, Valery Taylor, and Jay Garcia.
